Shimano Curado 200e7 – Possibly the World’s Best Fishing Reel?

August 27th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

I’ve been a longtime fan of Shimano Fishing Reels and for that matter all Shimano fishing products. I think they’ve created their signature masterpiece with the Shimano Curado 200e7.

This reel is lightweight, super smooth, has large line capacity, and what I love the most, a 7.1:1 gear ratio. I can pick up line super fast and fire off another cast.

Shimano Curado 200e7 has a cool looking metallic green finish and so far it’s not showing any scratches. In the past I was a huge fan of the Shimano Curado 100D. Also a lightweight, ultra tech version. This Shimano Curado 200e7 has replaced all of my Curado 100D.

There’s a very easy to adjust Variable Braking System to prevent that unwanted “backlash”.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Shimano Curado 200e7 which retails for about $179.00.

Digestive Enzymes, Nutrition and Your Health

August 26th, 2009 Posted in Nutrition | 25 Comments »

Information about Digestive Enzymes

Digestive Enzymes are enzymes that specifically work in the digestive system to facilitate the digestion, absorption, and transportation of nutrients. They also work to promote timely elimination of digestive waste products that are not of use to the body. Without enzymes, our cells would not get adequate nutrition and we would not survive.

Enzymes function as catalysts to enhance and dramatically speed up biochemical reactions that occur in every one of our cells. They are only activated in water, so staying hydrated is very important for enzymes to work effectively. Enzymes must be present to ensure proper digestion of nutrients, energy production, metabolism, transportation of fluid to cells, and elimination of toxins among many other functions.

Enzymes exist in foods to help our body’s breakdown what we eat. Raw, uncooked foods are the only foods that contain enzymes. Since the majority of our diets are cooked foods, we significantly limit the enzymes available in our food for digestion, thus putting more stress on our digestive systems. Some supplemental enzymes should be taken with food to enhance digestion and absorption of nutrients, whereas other supplemental enzymes should be taken on an empty stomach to support circulation, decrease inflammation, support our immune systems and combat stress. Imbalances in these factors have been scientifically proven to be ociated with or the cause of numerous diseases.

What sports supplements are good for hardcore runners?

August 25th, 2009 Posted in Supplements | 1 Comment »

I’m a daily runner, but i still have a few pounds in the stomach area. I want to loose that and get a six pack. What supplements like protein and hydroxycut would work?

First off, there isn’t any conclusive evidence regarding hydroxycut, and protein itself doesn’t do anything to get rid of the weight. Looking at the ingredients, you’re just as well off saving your money and replacing the hydroxycut with green tea.

As for supplements that help a runner, you’ll get the best results by adding lean muscle, getting enough sleep, and following proper nutrition.

The protein can help with the lean muscle, but most average people get enough protein in their diet. If you do use protein supplements, opt for the most natural available type. Whey protein is good, eating additional lean meat is better (fish is the best, low calorie and any fat in it is the good kind). Adding push ups, sit ups, and pull ups 3-4 times a week is enough to boost your calorie burning abilities greatly. The protein might also help your running recovery, providing additional building materials for the leg muscles.

Tons of studies have linked irregular sleep patterns and inadequate sleep with weight gain. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, and getting roughly the same amount each night. Your body will recover better, meaning it will perform better during exercise, meaning better weight loss.

As for nutrition, weight loss is, in its most basic form, calories in versus calories out. In addition to this though, you’ve got to get enough vitamins, endurance exercise like running depletes them and can open us up to illness. A good quality multivitamin is sometimes necessary.

There’s no magic bullet supplement for weight loss. You’re on the right track, you just have to give it time. Summer is still a ways away, you’ve got plenty of time.

What type of jobs are available for marketing in the nutrition field?

August 25th, 2009 Posted in Nutrition | 1 Comment »

I don’t have an educational background in nutrition, but would like to explore a marketing career involving nutrition/wellness. Do you have any suggestions for careers/companies to explore?

Speaking as a Marketing Major myself, I say it would depend upon your marketing concentration (Most community colleges offer basic nutrition classes which would give you more information on that side). So if you are into Sales, then I would try a whole foods distributor. If you are into promotions then I would say a place like the food and drug administration. If you are interested in a particular food item like Milk, I’d try the dairy counsel. It all just really depends upon where your interests lie.

Anyone know what baseball teams/games hold the record for the most homeruns and/or grand slams?

What are the pluses and minuses of growth hormone?

August 25th, 2009 Posted in Growth Hormone | 3 Comments »

My son had delayed puberty and after meeting with the endocronogist and having a growth hormone test it is determined he is healthy and will be 5’5" when grown. I am fine with this, but why wife is very upset and wants growth hormone for him. The doctor and I both are in agreement that this is not the proper course as there is a risk to my son and his stature will only gain 1 to 2 inches.

Growth hormones can cause very undesirable effects. As it messes with your body chemistry, there is a risk that the body could release other chemicals to compensate(Such as people that take steroids can get breasts and small testicles from the compensation).
It is safer under medical care, but the risks are still there.
