How long does it take for vitamins/supplements to take effect?

December 20th, 2009 Posted in Supplements | 4 Comments »

I am anemic (due to being a vegetarian) and have been suffering from severe fatigue for the past month or so. I started to take a multi-vitamin and extra calcium and iron supplements in hopes that they would improve my health and energy level.

I was just wondering how long it takes for supplements to start working through your system so I know if vitamin deficiencies are something that I should keep looking into.

Thanks.

Simply:
2-4 weeks

Everybody is different though. Your body will react in a different way.

What orgenelle in an animal cell is the site of autotrophic nutrition?

What orgenelle in an animal cell is the site of autotrophic nutrition?

It’s a regents question which I need help with.

This is an odd question, since animals are heterotrophs not autotrophs. Plants are autotrophs (can make their own food and high energy molecules) and they use chloroplasts to do it. Animal cells get their high energy molecules by eating food, breaking it down and then extracting the energy using the organelle called a mitochondrion.

How many revolutions does the baseball make on its way to home plate?

December 20th, 2009 Posted in Baseball | Comments Off

A good baseball pitcher can throw a baseball toward home plate at 92 mi/h with a spin of 1150 rev/min. How many revolutions does the baseball make on its way to home plate? For simplicity, assume that the 60 ft trajectory is a straight line.

First find how long the ball is in the air. Velocity X Distance (converted units of course)

Then multiply by the revolutions per minute and you will get revolutions.

Mainly just a unit conversion problem

Cyprus: Birthplace of Aphrodite

December 17th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

Cyprus, probably named for its copper, smelted since Neolithic times, is the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite. Two impressive mountain ranges surround a huge fertile plain and lovely beaches circle the coastline. Its climate has long attracted visitors, it is now renowned as a place for retirement – or partying.

Lying close to the Middle East and always strategically important, it was taken by many great powers including Greece. Rome and Egypt. The long reign of the French Lusignan dynasty brought prosperity and Roman Catholicism. In 1570 the Turks took the island.

It became a UK Crown Colony after World War II Independence came in 1960, but intercommunal strife increased and in 1974 an unsuccessful Greek coup prompted a Turkish invasion. The island was divided. It is now possible to cross the border, but violence and negotiation alternate and rules can change overnight.

However, north or south, the islanders are warmly welcoming and Cyprus has many attractions. The southeast with its raucous resorts also has archaeological sites and sunsets from Aphrodite’s ‘birthplace’ at the Rock of Remios. Pafos, though surrounded by development, remains a charming town. To the northwest is the remote Akanas Peninsula, with further isolated regions along the coastal hinterland, the magnificent Troodos region has forested mountains, lost villages, painted churches, unique wildlife and winegrowing.

In the North, small resorts cluster around the beautiful harbour town of Kyrenia. Famagusta is full of ruined Gothic churches inside its golden stone walls; outside lies a haunted, wired-off modern town, The rocky coast and bristling Kyrenia range hold unspoilt beaches and villages, classical sites, monasteries and Crusader castles.

Lefkosia (Nicosia) is the world’s only divided capital, Inside the massive Venetian fortifications, both sides – the cosmopolitan south and the north with its dusty lanes – are fascinating. Both have streets which end in a wall fluttering with defiant flags.

What are the efects of taking bodybuilding supplements if you are under age?

December 8th, 2009 Posted in Supplements | 3 Comments »

I’m talking about creatine, weight gainer etc. Why the age limit? All supplements say for age 16 and over. And what is the best supplement for getting big muscles fast?
And how fast will they work and how much bigger should they get? Interesting one this is!

There are lots of reasons
1. you are still growing
2. everything you put through your body get filtered through your kidneys and liver, creatine can be very dangerous to your body if you don’t properly hydrate yourself and I think these side effects can be magnified if you drink alcohol while on creatine as well
3. weight gainiers are waste of money in my opinion, I am 6’5 and when I was in high school I weighted only 150 pounds, I lifted, ate 4 or 5 meals a day and took all of the weightgainers I could, you body can only process so much protien and most of it just ends of coming right on out of you
4. odds are you won’t be able to legally and truly bulk up very fast if you are still 16
5. I now take muscle milk, it is NOT a weight gainer it is a supplement that is to help you gain lean muscle but I find it is the most effective supplement I have taken and really helps with recovery after workouts
6. Now that I am 30 and weight a solid 225 it just takes time for your body to stop growing and get the chance to put weight on ( I really didn’t put on the muscle or the weight I wanted until I was 23)
Best of luck but be careful what you are spending your money on and if you are going to take creatine be very careful to hydrate and follow all directions, and in my opinion skip the heavy calorie weight gainers you will literally be flushing your money down the toilet

Who is interested in the nutrition industry to help others while making money yourself?

December 8th, 2009 Posted in Nutrition | 4 Comments »

The pharmaceutical grade nutrition industry is booming! People are waking up to the fact that many prescription meds and even our own doctors are killing us. If you are not taking pharmaceutical grade nutrients in sufficient quantity you should look into it. If you are not sharing these wonders with others, you are missing the boat.

December 8th, 2009 Posted in Body Building | 3 Comments »

Untill now i have never exercised. if i start body building now so will i be able to have a big and fit body in the future?

Definitely, you’re body can develop muscle…. you’re still young… i even see 60yr olds who are body building and was never like that until working out at the age of 40… It’s never to late to start exercising and being more comfortable in your own skin… So, in the future you will more then likely have a great body if you just stick to exercising and eat right…
