What is the best body building supplement for me?

July 14th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | Comments Off

I’m 14 years old. 5 foot 9 and 125 pounds. I’m starting high school football next and need to get more muscle on my lean body. Please let me know what you think the best body building supplement would be for me.

If you’re only 14, you don’t really need to take any extra supplements. Don’t fall into the trap of taking supplements to "increase" gains. Just eat a ton of food. Make your mom buy you tons of meat, bread, and most of all, milk. Go through a traditional strength program while making sure you eat roughly 3-4000 calories a day. There is honestly no need to get any supplements that you can already get through natural diet.

Check out the two links below. The first link is a basic strength program that you can start. I’ve seen people put on 30 pounds in 2-3 months using this basic workout program if done correctly. The second link has some nutritional info about getting bigger.

Again, don’t fall into the trap of supplements. You’re too young and not experienced enough to need to take them.

Is it possible to combine body building workouts and martial arts?

June 8th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 3 Comments »

I know strength training and body building are two separate things, but I want to look good as well as increase my functional strength.

What type of workouts will help me achieve these?

To a certain extent, you can, but you’re going to have to choose between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Lee. You can’t have both bulk and agility/speed in large amounts.

What other activities are there for body building other than gym?

May 5th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 5 Comments »

I’ve been interested in building up my body for a long time now. I have repeatedly gone to the gym past couple of months. It has done me lot of good but I just really don’t enjoy the gym. I rarely go to the gym with enthusiasm which truthfully doesn’t help me put up the best effort. Are there any other activities I could take which help build me up? Any examples and procedures are welcome! Thanks!

Before gyms were so abundant most people did a lot of push ups and sit ups. You can be your own gym, go to www.charlesatlas.com and look through the forums.
I don’t hate gyms, they just don’t do that much for me either.

Should I do a body building workout, or a strength workout if I am a fighter?

March 8th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 5 Comments »

I just joined this fighting club in my neighbor hood. I am not bad fighter, but I cannot take hard punches. So I was told that I have to workout. Anyway, should I do a strength workout or a body building (muscle building) workout?

Don’t bulk up. Very big muscles tend to consume a lot of energy and oxygen. You’ll gas out easily. Focus on strength and also cardio workouts.

Is body building less effective if you donate plasma regularly?

March 5th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 2 Comments »

I’m considering donating plasma at least twice a week. I weight train/body build 3 times a week to improve muscle mass and strength. I take protein and creatine supplements as well. Plasma is responsible for transporting water and nutrients to all the cells in the body so will weight training and body building supplementation be less effective when my body is slightly depleted and recovering from donating plasma? I would think so… please only answer if you are knowledgable about this and can give me a technical answer.. Thanks a lot!

id do a lil less. once a week is fine. that will actually help you create new red blood cells.

Which Body building supplement to take from holland and barrets?

February 5th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 1 Comment »

Just wondering what body building supplement i should take from holland and barretts and i currently take creatine capsules so what would go with that? Max price around £20

Creatine and protein are perfect for increasing muscle mass and strengthening muscles. You’ve got to make sure you work out quite often though otherwise you’ll increase in water mass.

PS avoid holland and barrett and find your local body building shop! The owner will be massive and ripped no doubt. Tell him how you want to look and he’ll give you good advice so you’ll go back to him in the future and buy more of his product. Also, you can haggle with them!

Is it normal to gain this much weight when body building?

January 22nd, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 1 Comment »

I used to body build about a year ago, i stopped training and have now started again. Ive trained for about 3 weeks now, and look as if i have lost weight and appear a little slimmer, but according to the scales i have gained about 7 or 8 pounds.

Is this normal?

I know muscle weights more than fat but this seems a bit extreme, just wondering if anyone could shine a light on the situation.

Actually, your weight-gain is sub par. I can gain a pound a day for 30 days and can vary my body weight by 7 lbs. a day , in either direction.

What is your best "all natural" way of making a body building shake?

January 16th, 2010 Posted in Body Building | 4 Comments »

Please, serious answers. What is your secret cocktail? I am trying to find some good ideas to build mass (muscle) by not going the route of adding protein, creatine powders etc, because i have heard that, that may harm the body more than help it.

Put some eggs, meat, and milk in a blender and mix it all up! Great for that protein!

Does body building stops your height to grow?

December 28th, 2009 Posted in Body Building | 1 Comment »

I am 14 years old, 169 cm.

I am going to start body building, just to tone up. I will only do sit ups, crunches, push ups, bench dips, nothing more. Does that stop my height to grow? my father is 175 cm, my uncle is 177cm, so I was wondering.
