February 21st, 2010 Posted in Nutrition | 1 Comment »

I’ve seen courses at university for Human Nutrition and also Degree’s for just Nutrition, but what is the difference?

I would have to say that Human Nutrition is referring to the nutrients that humans should consume. Nutrition could be referring to what any other living creature should consume.

How can you help promote good nutrition for kids at a school?

February 5th, 2010 Posted in Nutrition | 1 Comment »

I have an little group to promote good health today’s and the rest of year is to promote good nutrition. I would really like to have some better ideas to have to make kids eat better.

You should try and make cooking and eating healthily fun for them. Have little sessions where they prepare their own meals once a week. It can be something like cold sandwiches but it will show them how to construct a healthy meal. You should also get them to do some projects on the benefits of good nutrition and the negative effects of an unhealthy diet.

I’m looking for a school that has a good nutrition program, shorter the better. Can anyone tell me of a school where most graduates end up working in the nutrition field? Thanks very much.

I have a friend who took a one-year nutrition program at the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition. She really liked it and after one year is a certified nutritionist. Check out the website at http://www.csnn.ca/ She really liked the school and the course and only had good things to say about it.

How to calculate your total nutrition of the day using the nutrition facts label?

January 1st, 2010 Posted in Nutrition | 1 Comment »

my assignment in biology is to record all of the food we eat in one day and then record the total nutrition into a Nutrition facts table something similar to this http://www.nestle.ca/NR/rdonlyres/EF764B3A-5216-46BA-95DC-B573C44EF266/0/BistroPestoGrChkn_NFT.gif. I dont know how to combine all of the nutrition into one table can someone help me?

Basically, you just add the percentages of daily value and the number of grams for each nutrient (fat, protein, etc.) together to get your total nutrition. Then, go to Excel and make one that looks kinda that example…?

What are some good career choices with a Nutrition Science major?

December 28th, 2009 Posted in Nutrition | 3 Comments »

I am in college, and am incredibly stressed because I don’t know what I want to do. I’ve been considering Pharmacy, but my GPA is quite low, and I am in the process of changing to Nutrition Science. I messed up my freshman year, and am trying harder my second year. What are some careers to work towards with a degree in Nutrition Science?

In a hospital setting you can be the dietitian. Their responsibilities is to select the appropriate diets like , low-sodium diet or diabetic diet, for patients and follow-through.

Or maybe in a weight-loss clinic.

Is there a good search engine I can use to find nutrition facts on basic foods?

December 24th, 2009 Posted in Nutrition | 3 Comments »

I’ve been searching for some basic foods and it is so hard to find! is their just one site I can go to and simply type in a food and get a chart of its nutrition facts?

this is my favorite site for that:
www.calorieking.com – Food Database

They have pretty much EVERYTHING in there including fast food and a lot of sit down restaurants.
