Will the growth hormone increase my height?
I am 17 years old, 5’8, 145 pounds, male, my mother is about 5’4 and my father is 5’6. I am interested in taking the growth hormone to increase my height by a couple of inches. I would like to see results in the 5’11 range. Could anybody give me information on whether or not taking this hormone will help me, what the side effects are, how expensive it is, and what the increase would be if it worked? Thanks in advance.
I was born with GHD (Growth Hormone Deficiency) and started taking injections when I was around 2 yrs. old. If i hadn’t taken them, I would be under 4′ at age 27, however I am currently 5’10". I stopped at 17 because at that age, you are not likely to much more, you can still build muscle mass but height isn’t likely to change much. You should talk to an endocrinologist and find out if there is any possibility of hormone injections helping you out. If you’re still living with your parents and they have health insurance, ask them to schedule an appointment. Growth Hormone injections can be costly, it would cost my family around $15,000 a year without insurance (this was several years ago though).
Your growth in height is based on your epyphyseal plates (growth plates). Growth hormones wouldn’t be able to help your bones grow at this stage at least but they may help with muscles. A doctor can determine if you can grow anymore by taking an X-ray of your bones.

ask a doctor, its expensive and its likely too late for you, you need it in your formative years, before 12 i think. but you can always ask.
